Marriage
Marriage is the unbreakable bond established by God between one man and one woman. In the Roman Catholic tradition, the bride and groom minister the sacrament to one another. A priest or deacon receive their vows and bless their union on behalf of the church.
Getting married at St. Peter Damian
To allow time for preparation, arrangements should be made at least six month in advance. Here are some steps to follow:

Important Documents Needed
Baptism

A newly issued baptismal certificate dated within six months of the day you wish to be married must be submitted by each Catholic party.
Confirmation

If you received the sacrament of confirmation in the same church that you were baptized in, this should be noted on the baptismal certificate.

If not, please contact the church where you received the sacrament of confirmation and request a confirmation certificate.
Marriage License - Cook County

A civil marriage license is required for this marriage to take place in the church.

The license should be obtained at the Office of the Cook County Clerk and submitted to our office a week prior to the wedding. For more information please go to https://www.cookcountyclerkil.gov/vital-records/marriage-civil-union/marriage-licenses or call (312)603-5656.
Other Documents

If you were previously married and your spouse has died, a copy of the death certificate will be necessary.

If either party received an annulment from the church for a prior union, a copy of the decree must be submitted.
