About the event
JOURNEY OF FAITH
The OCIA- Order of Christian Initiation for Adults, formerly known as RCIA, is the process by which people become members of the Roman Catholic Church. The process is concerned with the total formation of the person into:
Believing with the Church community (doctrinal formation)
Living with the Church community (practical formation)
Praying with the Church community (liturgical formation)
Serving with the Church community (apostolic formation)
The OCIA is intended to serve:
*The unbaptized who would like to learn more about the Catholic faith.
*Those baptized in another Christian denomination who would like to become Catholic.
*Those baptized Catholics who have not received both Holy Communion and Confirmation.
The OCIA process is much more than a program; it is a learning & loving process in which conversion of the heart brings one to Christ in a powerful manner; it is an answer to the Gospel invitation “Come to me all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you.”
Please note the program is not for Catholics (teens or adults) who have received Baptism and 1st Communion but seek the Sacrament of Confirmation. In these situations, call us for more information about Confirmation prep.
If you or someone you know (family member, friend, neighbor, co-worker) would be interested in joining the OCIA program, please contact Don Herweg 630-846-0318 or Deacon Mariusz Kosla 847-738-3800 no later than September 16th. Meetings/classes will begin in late September in preparation for reception of the sacraments at the Easter Vigil on April 19, 2025.
