WEDDINGS Dear Engaged Couple, Congratulations on your engagement and your desire to enter into Sacramental Marriage! These days of preparation and anticipation for your wedding will always be remembered. The
love between a man and a woman is extremely beautiful. It is
particularly wonderful to witness a couple moving beyond infatuation
into the reality of love as growth, challenge, pain, comfort and a
lifetime of individual and shared experiences. Marriage is a very
important step in your lives. Beyond the physical and contractual
elements, you are both entering into a covenant with God and the St.
Peter Damian community. Sacramental Marriage is a covenant, a total
commitment of you and your spouse to each other and the Body of Christ,
the Church. The
faith community of St. Peter Damian also accepts the responsibility of
walking with you, praying that your faith is nurtured and that your
continual practice of faith will be a celebration of your love for each
other and the Lord. For
baptized Catholics, the proper and valid form of receiving the sacrament
is within a Catholic church in the presence of a Catholic priest or
deacon. One of the spouses may be non-Catholic. The couple may request
permission for the spouse's minister to witness the marriage at the
minister's place of worship, or be present at St. Peter Damian to
provide a blessing. We,
at St. Peter Damian Parish, are happy for the opportunity to share these
days with you, as you prepare to celebrate your love for each other and
Jesus Christ in the sacrament of Matrimony. We hope you will find the
following information helpful in the celebration of your marriage. To schedule a wedding contact Father Tom at the Parish Office. Arrangements should be made at least 8 months before the anticipated date for the wedding. Please read the following document for additional information: |
