SPIRITUAL LIFE MINISTRIES
Altar Servers
Young people, 4th grade and up are
eligible to become altar servers. They prepare the altar and carry the
cross and candles in procession before and after Mass. Their main
purpose is to assist the presider during the celebration. For
more information contact Karen Root
at rroot1@msn.com or
630-289-4217 or
Wendy Hendrickson at
info@stpeterdamian.org or
630-830-2295.
Cantor
A cantor is a musically competent member
of the assembly who encourages and assists the whole praying community
in its worship, through either sung or recited prayer. Contact
our Director of Music, Christine Bischoff at the parish office or after
a Mass for more
information about becoming a cantor.
Choir
The choirs are a part of the congregation
who have the task of encouraging and supporting the assembly in singing.
The choirs help to achieve a degree of solemnity and beauty in worship,
thereby helping the faithful to pray in an atmosphere of joy.
Contact our Director of Music, Christine Bischoff at the parish office
or after a Mass
for more information.
Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP)
CRHP is a movement which is present in most parishes. It
begins with a fulfilling weekend of prayer and faith reaffirmation.
Men's CRHP and Women's CRHP each meet annually. The parish goal is
to extend this experience to every adult parishioner. For more
information contact Deacon Bob Newton at the parish office.
Communion Service
When morning Mass is not possible, a parishioner leads a Communion
Service where Scripture is read and the Eucharist is distributed.
Eucharistic Minister
A Eucharistic Minister is dedicated to
bringing the Body and Blood of Christ to all who desire it. This calls
for a Catholic who is in good standing and active in the practice of the
faith. A minister must be reverent, respectful and understand that this
is a privilege. Contact Ray Arndt at
thegardener47@comcast.net or call
630-837-6614 for more
information.
Lector
Lectors are men and women who participate
in the Mass and other liturgical services by sharing the readings and
prayers with the people. Their active role enhances the services and
makes them more meaningful. Training is required and offered. Contact Eileen Lucietto at
eillam2@hotmail.com or call
630-289-4253.
Liturgical Environment
The Liturgical Environment Committee is a
creative group that designs and makes the various seasonal banners and
displays used to decorate the church and help lend more meaning to the
liturgies.
Musician
A competent musician enhances worship by
guiding and supporting the congregation's singing. Anyone who is
proficient at playing a musical instrument is invited to contact the
music director about joining the music ministry. Contact our
Director of Music, Christine Bischoff at the parish office for more
information.
Sacristan
This ministry carries with it the
privilege of overseeing the area of the sanctuary and sacristy. The
sacristan prepares the sacred vessels, vestments and linens for the
mass. It is necessary for the sacristan to be familiar with the
liturgical calendar and its respective seasons. Contact Chris Malis
at the parish office for more information.
Usher
These are welcoming, courteous, helpful
and friendly people who enhance the worship experience and minimize
distractions. Among their many duties, they direct seating, pass the
collection baskets and make parishioners feel comfortable.
Contact
Martin Yoemans at the parish office for more information.
