Eucharistic Adoration will be held on the first Friday of each month from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm in the Chapel unless otherwise announced; check the bulletin and website for the location.  Sign-up sheets are available in the Chapel and in the vestibule of the Church.  Grow in faith and love of the Lord.

Extraordinary Ministries of Holy Communion

An Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is dedicated to bringing the Body and Blood of Christ to all Catholics in a state of grace.  This calls for a Catholic who is in good standing and active in the practice of the faith.  A minister must be reverent, respectful and understand that this is a privilege.  Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are scheduled as needed for the weekend Masses.  Training is required and offered.

First Friday Devotion

On the first Friday of each month, there is Eucharistic Adoration for most of the day.  Someone must always be present with Our Lord during the time the Blessed Sacrament is exposed.  Parishioners sign up for one-hour shifts to cover the time of exposition.

Infant Jesus of Prague Devotion

Devotion to the Infant Jesus celebrates the great mystery of the Incarnation.  We acknowledge the humanity and the divinity of Christ, and we rejoice in God’s caring love for us.  Jesus waits for our visit to shower us with His Divine and Eternal Love.  We are blessed with the miraculous statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague placed prominently in the renovated Chapel.  Its history goes back to the beginning of our parish.

Aflame with a great love for the Child Jesus, we invite all to join a prayer group dedicated to the Divine Infant with special prayers, masses, and events.  Please call our parish office or respond by email: info@stpeterdamian.org

This ministry utilizes art and decorations to enhance our worship spaces during specific seasons of the liturgical year.

Liturgy of the Hours / Divine Office

The Liturgy of the Hours/Divine Office is prayed daily at 7:50 am in the Chapel, followed by the Rosary at 8:05 am.  Mass is then celebrated at 8:30 am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.  Communion Service is on Thursday.

The Liturgy of the Hours is an excellent preparation for the celebration of the Eucharist, for it inspires and deepens in a fitting way the dispositions necessary for the fruitful celebration of the Eucharist: faith, hope, love, devotion, and the spirit of self-denial.

May Crowning

Every year on the first Sunday of May we honor our Blessed Virgin Mary bringing flowers and crowing her as the Queen of the Universe. It is truly moving experience with the participation of the First Communion kids.

Music Ministry

St. Peter Damian’s Music Ministry is always welcoming new volunteers!  All of you guitarists, violinists, flutists, drummers, keyboardists, to name a few, might like to see what it’s like to participate at Mass by playing music.

If you don’t play, perhaps you sing!  If you have the desire to sing in the choir or perhaps be a Cantor, please contact us!

The Music Ministry is always in need of new choir members and musicians.  Please consider volunteering your time and talent to this wonderful ministry!

This ministry carries with it the privilege of overseeing the areas of the sanctuary and sacristy.  The sacristan prepares the sacred vessels, vestments and linens for the mass.  It is necessary for the sacristan to be familiar with the liturgical calendar and its respective seasons.

Simbang Gabi Celebration

The Archdiocese of Chicago, through the Office for Asian Catholics and participating host-parishes, coordinates the yearly inter-parish celebrations of Simbang Gabi. This unique Filipino tradition of a nine-day novena of Marian masses before Christmas has become a source of joy and anticipation for more than 70 parishes in Lake and Cook Counties.

The nine masses follow the liturgy of votive masses in honor of the expectant Mother of God. Except on Sundays and anticipated masses on Saturdays, masses are celebrated as festive masses – the Gloria is sung and the color of vestments is white, not the purple of Advent. The text of the masses are those of the votive masses for Mary “Temporare Adventus” (In Advent). This multicultural parish community celebration shares a rich Filipino tradition with the whole Church and also becomes a catalyst for evangelization and a continued call to mission.
